October 2016: Rethinking Tech Solutions for Small Businesses
View this email in your browser
Recently I again experienced how technology can really make a small business go.
I was invited to discuss tech needs at a small home-based business in Leelanau County. Well, 'home based' makes it

sound small; this family-run business meets an interesting niche in the transportation sector and generates crazy revenue every month. They have seen constant growth since opening their doors just a few years ago.

They run this nation-wide business from this home office, and have another staff member (family, of course) based downstate in southeast Michigan.

All key day-to-day interactions are web-based: Scheduling, invoicing, receivables, contract staff, vendors, and customers. No one in this family has any natural tie to the industry they serve; they found a niche, got some advice, and made it go. Very impressive. And exciting!

Where do we come in? Their success has pushed them to a point where they they are outgrowing their processes and the system. We'll help them improve all that, re-designing and optimizing the tech system for improved protection, efficiency, and effectiveness.

It sometimes gets overlooked how much small business really drives our economy, how each and every one contributes - and by that I mean the "small" small business. Technology is a profit driver in the "small" small business, a way to create, find markets, and keep everyone working.

That's our world these days at Terrapin Networks: the "small" small business, from one to 15 or so computer users. If that's you, and you'd like to check out how to improve the tech system at your company, let's talk.
